The pupose of the remarks is to provoke - to put research workers under pressure to develop , as soon as possible , inexpensive plastics materials which please the customers and posses the same properties as traditional materials as well as even more reliable and with better all-raund properties.This is the only way of improving the image of plastics - an image which is still only "modest" - and to cause manufacturers and desingers to run away from traditional materials and replace them by plastics.
