Below please find the description of the application procedure along with
the list of the documents you will need to provide, expenses that
studies at MSU involve and the application form (see attached file).
Studies. Academic year at MSU lasts from September till June and includes
two semesters: Fall semester (01.09-24.01) and Spring semester
(07.02-30.06). Duration of studies is as follow: BSc/BA - 8 semesters;
MSc/MA - 4 semesters; Specialist - 10 semesters; PhD - 6 semesters. All
classes are held in Russian. So to be admitted to the regular course at a
faculty you should pass the test of proficiency in Russian language or take
one-year preparatory course at the University's Center for International
Education (CIE) -

information and to apply please contact International Offices at the
Faculties directly. If your main interest is Russian Language courses please
contact CIE (see attached file below).
Visa support. To get an official invitation for coming to Russia please send
the documents listed below to the International Office of the Faculty by
post or fax not later than three months before classes start:
· filled-in application form
· copy of the first two pages of your passport
Once the documents are received and considered, the Faculty will send you an
official invitation. Please find out on the procedure of getting visa in the
Russian Embassy at your country. Please inform the International Office on
the date and place of your entering Russia.
Contract on studies. Upon arrival international students sign the contract
that states specialty, duration of studies, tuition fee. For contract on
studies to be signed you should submit the documents listed below to the
International Office at the Faculty you choose to study:
· certificates and diplomas stating your qualification and their
notary attested translation in Russian:
for Bachelor Programme (BS?/BA): High School/College
certificate
for Master Programme (MS?/MA): Bachelor or Specialist Diploma
for Doctoral Studies (PhD): Master or Specialist
Diploma
· Transcripts
· Medical Certificate including AIDS test
· Medical Insurance Policy.
The documents on academic background and medical certificates should be
translated into Russian and attested by the Russian Embassy at the country
where the documents are issued or by the Embassy of your country or by
notary in Russia.
It is possible to pass AIDS test as well as to buy Medical Insurance policy
at the University Polyclinics.
The Faculty might ask you for additional information or documents.
To be admitted to MSU you should pass entrance exams (interview or test) at
the Faculty you have chosen.
Expenses are estimated as follows:
1. Preparatory course on Russian language and major subjects at CIE
from September 1st to June 30th (see the table attached).
2. Tuition fees at the Faculties (see the table attached).
3. Accommodation in student dormitories from $40 per month depending
on living conditions. (A single room in block of two rooms costs $130/month
4. Fee for medical certificate and AIDS test - $32 - $190
5. Medical insurance policy or contract on medical service - $61 -
$220
6. Russian language proficiency test $40 - $50
7. Expertise of education certificates issued in your home country -
$20 - $170
8. Translation of in your home country issued education certificates
into Russian language - $20 - $100
Text-books from the University libraries are available for free of charge.
Please note that there are no scholarships available for international
students.
