ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS AND NATURAL DISASTERS

1.Environmental Problems
Environmental problems occur as people damage the nature they live in in order to provide better living conditions for them.
Air pollution is seen in our country, especially in big cities due to low quality fuel usage.
Some garbage(like nylon bags) produced in factories and houses pollute the soil.
The sewer system of the cities that are close to industrial areas cause the pollution of rivers, seas and lakes.Also, spilt from naval accidents increase that pollution.
Some of the things that pollute the land and water are solid waste.The solid wastes consist of plastic materials, glass products, metalic things(like metal cans) and wooden materials(like paper).
Especially in big cities, the motor sounds and horns of the vehicles and some entertainment places cause pollution by noise

The duties of us and the government for the solution of environmental problems:
* We shouldn't cut down trees or light a fire in forests
* The toxic wastes of factories shouldn't be spilt into rivers, lakes or seas
* We shouldn't throw garbage into the nature
* We should use high-quality fuel
* We should be helping NGOs for the solution of those problems
* The ministry of environment should be more active
* Local governments should work more for the solution of the problems

2.Natural Disasters and Ways of Protection
Natural disasters are the natural events that affect the lives of the people badly.They cause a lot of damage, both killing people and damaging material of the people living there.It is not possible to control natural disasters.

We can list the natural disasters as follows;
a. Earthquakes
The sudden release of energy from the ground is called an earthquake.They are often seen in certain areas in the world.Those areas are called earthquake belts.
The most important of them is the Northern Anatolian earthquake belt.That one starts from the Saros Bay and ends in the north of Lake Van, through Marmara Sea and south of Northern Anatolian mountains.

The preparations need to be done before the earthquake;
* The cities and towns shouldn't be built on top of the fault lines.
* The buildings should be built low and with good materials.
* People should be educated about the earthquakes.

What's needed to be done during the earthquake;
* We should be calm
* We shouldn't jump out of the windows or balconies
* The electric and gas should be turned off
* We should be crouching next to strong things in the house
* We should get out of the house as soon as the earthquake ends
